On Saturday, several band students participated in District Honor Band Auditions. The Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) District Band is an outstanding performance opportunity for highly motivated band students. Students are selected via audition and get to rehearse and perform a concert with a world-class clinician and students from across the region.
We are SO EXCITED to share that OMAR LAGUNA auditioned and was selected to participate in our District 14 Honor Band this year. He is the FIRST ever student from WLAMS to be awarded this honor. This is an amazing accomplishment for our band program as we continue to build a culture of excellence.

Today, WLAMS students had the opportunity to participate in the Gainesville Christmas Parade! Our cheerleaders and NJHS students represented our school in TORO fashion. It was awesome to hear folks in the crowd cheering on the Toros as they walked down Green Street! #torobien ¡Hoy, los estudiantes de WLAMS tuvieron la oportunidad de participar en el Desfile de Navidad de Gainesville! Nuestras animadoras y estudiantes de NJHS representaron a nuestra escuela al estilo TORO. ¡Fue increíble escuchar a la gente en la multitud animando a los Toros mientras caminaban por Green Street! #Torobien

Throughout the week, our ELA teachers Ms. Terry and Ms. Curry held mock trials in their classrooms for students to persuade, debate, and discuss the literary texts they are reading currently. Both days were filled with fruitful student led discussions as well as our students building literacy skills! ¡Orden en la corte!
A lo largo de la semana, nuestras profesoras de ELA, la Sra. Terry y la Sra. Curry, celebraron simulacros de pruebas en sus aulas para que los estudiantes persuadieran, debatieran y discutieran los textos literarios que están leyendo actualmente. ¡Ambos días estuvieron llenos de discusiones fructíferas dirigidas por los estudiantes, así como de nuestros estudiantes que desarrollaron habilidades de alfabetización!

This luncheon highlights one of our core SOS strengths: Family Support — the people who give our students encouragement, grounding, and a sense of belonging.
IMPORTANT: Due to limited seating, students must be signed up through the RSVP form that was sent to parents via Remind and Infinite Campus.
Only students whose parents complete the RSVP will be allowed to attend.
